Recommended Reading

Late last week, I had the pleasure of lunch with my friend Mike Palmer, a history professor here at ECU. He was kind enough to give me a copy of his recent book, The Last Crusade: Americanism and the Islamic Reformation. The book is a highly readable overview of the origins of America's war with radical Islamism, and I definitely recommend it. Mike makes abundantly clear the scope of the challenge that we face, and no, electing a Democrat in '08 won't make the Islamist threat magically go away. In the interests of full disclosure, I should note that Mike gives a shout out to me, and this blog, in his acknowledgements.
