Falling Short on Darfur

There is a great post at Harry's Place properly taking the Bush Administration to task for pulling its punches in response to the genocide in Darfur:

Bill Clinton and other Western leaders of the time will live and die with the shame of failing to recognize and respond to the Rwandan genocide of more than a decade ago. Does Bush-- for whatever "practical" reasons-- really want to end his administration with a similar moral failure on his record and his conscience?

Bush on Darfur: counting the days

In the fall of 2001, after reading a memo discussing the Rwandan genocide and the Clinton Administration's utterly ineffectual response, President Bush is reported to have written one simple comment: "not on my watch". It is up to us to hold the president to his word.
